Having a website without determining ways to bring visitors to it is like building a beautiful store on a back road and failing to let anyone know about it. Once we have your website designed, built, and uploaded, the next step is to determine ways to bring visitors to it.

Achieving a high ranking on a search engine is a key way to attract visitors. Proper SEO involves both simple methodology, and other sophisticated techniques. We utilize many of these once we have a satisfactory website. Below is a quick summary of some of the factors that influence where you rank in Google, Yahoo, MSN, or any of the hundreds of other search engines.

Metatags
If your website designer doesn’t know about adding metatags and keywords to your website, fire him or her. This is the most basic function that search engines look at in determining where to rank your website. And as you know, rankings are all-powerful in helping potential customers find you in Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, and the many other search engines.

We go through your entire website to catalog the key words that are important to your market. Then we insert these “behind the scenes” in your webpages and add a description that concisely summarizes your website.

Pay-Per-Click AdWords
For a fee that you can set yourself, you can be listed in the “Sponsored Sites” section on Google and many other search engines. This is by far one of the least expensive and most immediate ways to put your website on the first page of the search engines when someone does a search.

GoogleMaps (Google Local Search)
Let’s say you own an insurance agency and are located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Someone goes to Google and does a search for “Insurance Agency, Bismarck, ND.” Wouldn’t you like to show up in the listing of 10-15 insurance agencies? Go ahead and try it with your own business field and city and see if you are there. If you aren’t, get in touch with us right away.

Registration with the Major Search Engines
How do the search engines establish their rankings? They send out software “robots” that log every word of every website and rank those sites based in part on how many times keywords are used on the website. Unfortunately because there are so many new websites coming online now, the search engines can’t possibly “visit” every website. We manually register your website with the major search engines, which typically forces the search engines to visit and catalog your website.

Re-Registration with Search Engines
Once is not enough. Even if we register your site the first time and your site gets ranked by search engines, you will watch it slide down the rankings as other sites are registered. For many of our clients, we monthly re-register their sites in order to maintain or improve their rankings.

Content Enrichment
It has been shown that the search engines rank websites higher when are rich in content. In effect, the more times your keywords and key phrases are used on your website, the higher your ranking on the search engines. So we add articles you have written, electronic versions of your brochures and newsletters, and other materials that contain your keywords and phrases.

What is "SEO?"

Search Engine Optimization refers to establishing good ranking when someone does a search in Google, Yahoo, MSN, or one of the other many search engines on the internet.

It is insufficient to assume you will receive top ranking simply because you have a website. There are many many "tricks" and techniques that a good website designer can utilize to encourage the search engines to visit your site, and to rank it well.
